How CG Research collects and processes data
CG Research undertakes the collection of data for market research projects either in person, via telephone or online on behalf of its clients. CG Research may have collected data from you as part of a face-to-face survey or have contacted you to invite you to take part in an online or postal research survey, or to validate the information you provided via a face-to-face survey.
CG Research may have received your contact details (e.g. email address, telephone number, postal address) from an organisation that holds this information and wishes to invite you to take part in research. For example, this may be an organisation that you are a customer of, an organisation which you receive information from (you have signed up to receive information by email or by post) or an organisation that you are a member of. CG Research has been assured by the client that they have permission to hold these details and to contact you for the purposes of research. If you are concerned about this CG Research can provide you with contact details for the research client.
The client for the research is the Controller of the data and CG Research the Processor. CG Research has a contract in place with the client and we will process the data only as agreed with the Controller and in accordance with their instruction.
The legal basis for processing data collected from you is either:
· You have agreed to take part in a survey administered by CG Research, or
· The organisation that commissioned the research has a legitimate interest in analysing and/or processing data you have provided to it.
CG Research Surveys and the use of survey data
When you are invited to take part in a survey, it will explain why the data is being collected and how it will be processed. This will allow you to decide whether you wish to give your consent by taking part in the survey. You always have the opportunity to decline involvement or to ‘opt out’ of the research after agreeing to participate. You are able to decline to answer any questions which relate to sensitive personal information
CG Research processes survey data for research purposes only, and the use of that information will be limited to that purpose. Your information will not be used for marketing, nor will your information be sold or passed to any third party without your express permission.
From time to time CG Research may transfer your data to another company to perform functions required to deliver the research project. This could include, for example, a printer to print letters for a postal survey. They will not be able to use your data for any purpose other than the specific function required. They must also follow the requirements of this policy and the General Data Protection Regulation.
We may engage or otherwise work with other providers to assist in providing professional services to CG Research’s clients. Where these services perform processing on Personal Data, they are acting as Data Processors for CG Research and appropriate agreements are in place to ensure that their processing accords with the GDPR and the purposes for processing laid out in this policy.
